Sensing the Storm
Utter silence and
an unnatural stillness
permeate the air.
Thunderclouds loom
overhead, chilling
the day, darkening
the endless sky.
There’s rumbling
off in the distance
getting closer
with each second.
The air is heavy
with humidity,
with the sound of
raindrops pattering
on the pavement.
A jagged flash
slashes the sky,
announces with
a deafening crack:
the storm is here.
