Wheel

I have gripped
the steering wheel
of my old F-150 truck
so many times
it has worn away
at the top and bottom.
Ah, but the sides,
the sides, sleek
as if new.
I have gone forward
too long, driven
to the appointed task,
needed to turn left
and right more often.
