The Scar

A small thin slit in a sea of perfect young skin
located just south and west of her belly button
I pause for a moment to kiss

please don’t she tells me
I hate it so much
not surprised I say I love it

someone made this lifesaving cut
now it’s a beautiful reminder
imperfect impermanent and incomplete
